Ever since I finished the recovery quilt, I have been cutting squares from my scraps and in some cases, my stash. mostly 2.5 inch squares, but some 5 inch squares when the size warranted it. I love seeing my fabric up close and personal...not sure if I am going somewhere with all this cutting, although my new Amish books have got me thinking about Sunshine and Shadows...for now, I'm just enjoying the cutting.
This is a small section of what is left over...scraps from my scraps. I'm having a hard time with the thought of putting them in the trash. any good ideas for what to do with them?
Quite a few years ago I was with one of my quilt friends, my sister and hubby up in Shipshewana. They had a Sunshine and Shadows raffle quilt haning in Yoder's and hubby loved it. The four of us spent a few hours carrying bolts of fabric from the fabric section up to the quilt to match the squares -- it had to be those same colors 'cause they created an optical illusion. It was really fun and he loves the quilt. That was before cell phone cameras too -- it would be such an easy thing to do now LOL! You could just put all your pretty scraps in a big clear glass jar and drool over them! ;-)
ReplyDeletethat is so smart; then theyll be ready to use!
ReplyDeletewhy not sew them together and "make" some interesting fabric from them!
ReplyDeleteI just spent an hour cutting up my black an white scraps using my Acuquilt Go.
now i have triangles and squares of various sizes ready for another project
Buttons...button magnets... Crumb blocks?
ReplyDeleteYou should make a ticker tape quilt. One of my favorites is here:

It's perfect for little scraps!
With my scrap scraps I like to stitch them to note cards or cardstock for sending!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing post from you, you must try and get on here more often!! ♥ I think the button and cards ideas are great or you could make coasters (I think people call them mug rugs now..!).
ReplyDeleteI would get some muslin or something and stitch them together to "make" fabric...then you can use it for applique or square up blocks and use them. I love doing that with scraps!
ReplyDeleteI don't throw out any fabric. When my fabric scraps are too small to do anything with, I put them in a bag to use as stuffing for a pet bed. Other small scraps are divided into categories: strings, ticker tape, charmlets. All fabric is good for something!
ReplyDeleteTHROW THEM AWAY and get on with your life. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm such a killjoy.
