Thank you.

I would like to thank every one of you who voted for Hugo's color wheel quilt and thanks to Gen X Quilters for holding the contest and especially Sew Fresh Fabric for sponsering it.  I won third place in the quilt contest and received this amazing bundle of Anthology fabrics as my prize.  Thank you!!  I adore Hugo's quilt so it was nice to see that others liked it as well!!

I know I have been a bit absent in this space, but we have had countless school delays and school cancellations recently and it has seriously thrown off our groove.

I will be posting at Sew We Quilt @ Stash Manicure on Thursday...so if you would like to check out my experiment with Kaffe scraps...drop by and say hello here.

  3. Congratulations on your Gen X placing - I really enjoyed seeing a 'show place' of large quilts.

Just bopped over from Stash, nice to see someone playing with their scraps.

  4. Congrats on third place! Those fabrics up top there are drool-worthy.

  5. Congrats on the win in the Gen X quilter's contest! I really like that piece of scrappy fabric you have created and I really do think it would make a great picnic table topper. Square it up and add a border that makes it all pop and it would be a great topic of conversation at summer picnics. Just a thought. :-)

  6. Although my stash seems heavily weighted in favor of blue, my scraps seem to have everything but orange. I never thought of sewing my scraps together like you did. It looks like fun. I also enjoyed your QAYG tutorial on Stash Manicure.

  9. I just love the scrap fabric! Gee, I tried this about 15 years ago and I wasn't brave enough to continue because I thought people would think I was crazy. Now, I wish I had pushed forward with it. I sure will now!!! And thank you for the opportunity to win the thread.

  10. Beautiful fabrics - congrats on your third place and on being a Stash Manicure stash buster. Love what you've done with the fabrics.

  11. what a good way to make the most out of every scrap, the little bits cost the same per yard as the big bits. The Aurofil giveaway would be great, i have been wanting to try it for a while now

  14. Funny I was playing with some Brown scraps in the same way today. I like my Purple scraps the best. I would love some Aurifil Thread to play with when I free-motion quilt. My quilt buddy, Lynn calls these type of quilts her "garbage" quilts.

  15. Great post on Stash Manicure today. I see an whole new scrap thing happenin'

  16. You would not believe THIS:
Last week I entered a shop and purrrrchased a box of aurifil upper threads - the thick ones - for $ 3.00 a piece! 8^O Clearance or sales!?
Ended up with 32 times 1000 meter =^8
DH got only 4 of them showed, for information's sake.
The thread I use for piecing however is not among these finds. And I love, love Aurifil. It's cheap when you see how much you can sew with 1 cone, no thread breaking, no thread lint. Of course, other brands are cheaper a cone, but get the math: 4 times € 3.00 - 250 meters a cone is more expensive than 1 time 1000 meters for € 7.00.
I use the smokey colors most, as scraps on the shelf are in abundance in all colors.
    Addiction to scraps usually has a sister: addiction to threads! ;^}
    Love, Irene

  32. Your blocks are so colorful. I have a lot of blues and purples in my stash. Don't have too many oranges or yellows and always have to go to my LQS when I need some of those colors. I enjoyed reading your blog.

  35. ..hopping over from Stash Manicure. Great scrap project and I need to get mine in one place and get such a project rolling.

  36. Loved this idea! I will most likely be trying it soon, along with some other ideas I have seen in recent years to use up scraps. My stash is dwindling (due to economic reasons) and I keep cutting the leftovers into scraps.
The dominant color in my scraps is currently blue, but that changes from time to time.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I followed you over from Stash Manicure too. Time at the sewing machine currently comes at such a premiun, it will likely be a few more years before the scrap quilt in my head - made from single color "blocks" like the fabric you pieced together - is realized. But I will get there someday! Thanks for the inspiration!

  56. Just loved the "new fabric"!! I have always considered my scraps as an important part of my stash - scrap quilts are my favorite venu. I have trouble turning away the smallest bit. Anyway, great blog entry; my stash has everything but I guess blues, greens, golds, and shades of brown/black follow me home most often
