Yipee, it feels great to have one of these done!  I had a bit of a tension/pulling issue with this quilt, but just plowed ahead...really wish I would go into my local sewing store where I bought the machine and have a lesson or two...

In general, I am not thrilled with how the backing turned out.  I love all the quilting on the front though...

  3. Yes I understand your reservations with the back as I have the same with my quilt but I do love the front of yours.

  4. I heart straight line quilting, and yours is beautiful, although I understand about the back. I wish I could have a lesson or two on my Juki as to how to fix the "not ideal" look of the back when I'm FMQ, when the front looks just fine. What kind of machine do you have?

  5. It is a beautiful quilt - and it is finished, so it will keep you warm and cozy. I am no expert but I have a couple of tips for you. First, I would make sure I spend extra time in the basting process. Tape the backing down on the floor to make sure it is really flat before adding the other layers, and make sure you use lots of pins to baste it. The other thing I would do when quilting, is to make sure that I alternate direction. So when I go down one row, I come up the other row, so I'm not pulling the quilt in the same direction. Oh and use a walking foot - it helps guide all the layers at the same pace.
